Front seat palava ooo.

Image
Some weeks ago, there was an uproar on twitter about a girl who came online to talk about how she was with a guy, and because she was sitting at the front seat of the guys car, the guys girlfriend had to sit at the back. Why is this an issue? I'll tell you why in a minute... This isn't the first time this topic is coming up on social media. The topic came up when this question below was asked and I've been wanting to write about this ever since the first episode. So back to why it is an issue. First of all, the lady sounded quite arrogant about it saying ' I made her seat at the back' , in my opinion that is utterly disrespectful. And the fact that she had to announce her "front seat victory" aggravated a lot of tweeps. I usually keep quiet on controversial issues like this but like I said, I have been wanting to talk about this one. In my opinion, it's all the guys fault. You go to pick your babe up and there's a lady sitting at the front s...

The Shift from physical to Emotional.

Image
Most people are attracted to the physical traits initially. The persons height, complexion, smile, stature, people have an initial proclivity to what they can see rather than what they feel. The physical is what grabs our attention for the first few weeks or months of a relationship. But the irony is, with time, we eventually become "blind" to these things.  You may see your partner everyday, but no longer notice the physical traits that were so attractive or not so attractive. It becomes more than the physical, it becomes more about their attitude, behavior and how they make you feel. You lose yourself in the euphoria of glee, excitement and sense of belonging...a feeling to be in company of the other and to be held.  As we mature, we find that the looks are no longer enough to be a deciding factor for most relationships, most people may end up getting married to people that are not up to their physical specification, and this will most often than not, only be an "i...

The office Lunch palava.

Image
So yesterday, a friend of mine called to ask for my opinion about a certain office dilemma he had. This friend, is the Head of Admin and HR in his organisation and had been requested by his line Manager to review a reported case and revert on the action to be taken by the Company. So (again) before taking a decision and putting pen to paper, he wanted to be sure. He gave me the gist as follows: The pool car driver in his office had somehow gotten the delegated duty of buying food for everyone at work. The habit of sending this driver who i would nickname Papa Bose (for ease of reference) was formed over time because of his diligence and seeming care for the welfare of staff. Initially staff used to send Papa Bose to take them to an eatery not to far from the office for their lunch but that stopped after the Company Management complained that too much time was being utilized as lunch breaks. As such, staff were left with no other choice than to send the cleaners, or clerks to purchase...

Nothing Stop working until you Give up on your Dreams

Image
This story its very lntresting. As Tom waited patiently for his time to end. Tom’s dream walked into the room and had come to pay his last respects and bid farewell to the man who had never used it. His dream said to him as he looked at him with so much shame. Why did you not realize me?”… the dream asked Tom. “Because I was afraid”… Tom replied. “Afraid of what?” … asked the dream. “I was afraid I would fail”… Tom replied “Have you not failed by never attempting to use me?”… asked the dream. “Yes I did… and I always thought there would be a tomorrow”… replied Tom. “You Fool”… said the dream. “Did it never occur to you that there was only ever today… the moment that you are in right now… do you think that now that Time is here with Death… that you can put them off until tomorrow?”… spoke the Drea...

Face your fear and Conquer them.

Image
Don’t live a fearful life. Fear is crippling. It’ll make you an invisible nonentity if you allow it to rule your life. Fear will stop you from living your best life; from dominating your world and making a ding in the universe. Fear is a very terrible spirit. It has ruined many lives and killed many dreams. Fear is what makes people settle for a life that’s below their full potential; it restricts the development and expression of the human spirit. It’s what makes people remain in jobs that are not allowing them to flourish, stay in abusive relationships and accept oppression, suppression and any form of slavery as a way of life.  Fear makes people go after shadows, instead of the real thing. Have you ever wondered why people stick to projects, businesses or ideas that aren’t working, things that’re bound to fail? It’s because they’re afraid of being ridiculed, of being labelled “a failure.” But, the truth is, no one is...

It Takes guts..

Image
It’s difficult to be unique, to choose not to do what everyone else is doing. It’s difficult to take a principled stand in the face of adversity. It’s difficult to be vulnerable and trusting. It’s difficult to stay calm in a crisis, when things aren’t going the way you want it. It’s difficult to do unmistakable work…… But it’s always worth it to seek out the difficult…., to do the difficult things that others fear. Those who choose to do (or proffer solution to) things that are insanely difficult~things that others greatly fear~will shine like stars in this age.

The Learning Curve.

Image
What if you knew that making your dream a reality, leads you to memorable experiences that will come in handy in designing your dream? I having been pursuing my passion of making a difference since I was a youngster . There have been the good, the bad and the ugly. However it has been an exciting learning curve and I will like to share with you some of my experiences.   Here are things that I learned and you should know about the learning curve: The Mind Deceives People a Lot Jeff talks about how the brain plays tricks on us . One of the tricks you have probably encountered is when the brain lets you believe that you can’t achieve your dream.  You have been deceived by the mind that you are lacking certain resources, you don’ have a skill; you are newbie and you will lose everything if you pursue your passion. If I held on to what my mind had preached to me, I probably would never have blogged in the first place. I never believed that writing was o...

Can you Truly Guarantee your safety Today?

Image
Safe. Secure. Protected. These words evoke images in our minds. For me, I unconsciously see the picture of perfect rest and can feel the comfort such as is gotten by a baby cuddled in the warmth of his mother’s arms. Maybe it’s because I’m a mom. Lol. In today’s world, these words seem to exist only in abstract. There is no guaranteed sense of safety or security for anyone anywhere in the world. Recently, the calmness of the French night was shattered by the news of multiple terro attacks.  It wasn’t any different in Lebanon where at least 41 people were killed. After that,  there was news of another bomb blast in Northern Nigeria killing dozens. It’s one tragedy after the other. From floods to earthquakes, wars and random shootings in schools and public places. It makes you wonder, how safe really are we?   The truth is, we are not. We are human and are subject to the change of times and seasons. We are fallible, can suffer devastating illnesses and eventually...

Does the Total Woman Exist?

Image
We all have our ideas about who an ideal woman should be. She’s hardworking, she’s strong, able to cater for the home, run several businesses and care for the children without breaking down. Some have even taken to using the Proverbs 31 scripture as a weapon to criticise women. Is it about what she does, or is it who she is? The word total means complete, whole, absolute, comprehensive, etc. A woman is a creature born with the genitals, organs of a female human being. Just saying. *winks* How is a woman Incomplete? Different stories play out in the lives of women today and unfortunately they sound alike. One woman Rita, educated and beautiful is subjected to emotional abuse and threatened to have her children taken from her. Elaine is beaten to a pulp every now and then, and she’s too afraid to cry out and explains it away as “she provoked him to anger”. Stories abound of how ladies are used and dumped (pardon me) in relationships w...

Domestic Violence Alert:when is it safe to speak out?

Image
Domestic violence is becoming the order of the day. A few years back, you would hear of it in whispers but rarely out in the open like it is now. On the TV, over the radio and especially on the internet, you hear the news of one domestic violence or the other. Sometimes, you even see some gory images. The number of women who have lost their lives as a result of this continues to increase to our dismay. Gone are the days of male chivalry where it is expected that every man should love, care for and protect his wife with everything he’s got. It cannot be assumed so any longer. There are good men. But there also are bad men. Instead of standing up for her if she’s being spoken to aggressively, especially by another man, they are the culprits. They speak to her in a manner that is demeaning, threatening and of no value. If you didn’t like her enough to respect her and treat her nicely, why bother bringing her into your house? A real man will believe in, and...

You are the Mirror on the Wall.

Who’s the fairest of us all? This sure reminds you of the wicked Step Mother in the fairy tale, Snow White. The woman was so obsessed by her beauty that she sought to remain the fairest of all women and did whatever it took to ensure that it never changed. Today it’s not about the wicked Step mother and poisoned apples. It’s about how you see yourself. Your Self Esteem. Self esteem is simply how you see yourself. It is the image create or invoke when you think of yourself. This image can be a healthy one, or a warped, distorted version. Giving you either a healthy Self Esteem or a Low Self esteem. Research carried out by  Dr Joe Rubino  shows that 85% of people in the world suffer from low self esteem. That’s an astonishing number. It means that for every 5 people you see, 4 of them are suffering from one form of Low self esteem or the other. It’s not far fetched because the signs are there. People with Low Self Esteem generall...

Image
An 8-year-old boy named Jalen Bailey from Fresno California has opened his own bakery, hoping to make enough money from a menu which includes cookies, muffins, banana bread and other baked goods, and buy a new home for his single mum.  "I wanted to save up a lot of  money to get a house," Jalen told KFSN. "I just want one that me and my mom can be happy in."  His mum, Sharhonda Bailey said she was proud her son thought about owning his own business at such a young age and support his business. She said she even sometimes works as his assistant when time allowed but said knowing he wants a new home breaks her heart.  "It was a little overwhelming because it was something that I couldn't do for him," Sharhonda Bailey told KFSN. Jalen has since attended his first networking event for entrepreneurs and inspired by what he saw, he now has big dream.  "I said I wanted to be a millionaire," Jalen told KFSN. "I thought that wasn...
