Cable thief Electrocuted at Akwa -lbom.

According to a Facebook user by the name Iniofon Okon, a young man who sneaked into a transformer unit located along Grace Road in Eket Local Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, was electrocuted as he was trying to steal some armoured cables from the transformer. It was gathered that the thief sneaked into the transformer unit at about 3am when there was power outage but while he was busy cutting the cables, electricity was restored and he was electrocuted to death. His body was found in the morning and was evacuated to a mortuary in the town.

Mother of four, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has revealed her close relationship with the late singer and music producer, OJB Jezreel who passed away a few days ago due to his protracted kidney hassles after a successful transplant in the year 2013 in India. Omotola was taken aback to when she recorded her first and only music album produced by OJB which warranted him to move into her house for a period of 14 days for the purpose of working on her to make the project successful. In her message on social media, she revealed her hatred for eulogies as well as her friendly chemistry with the multi-instrumentalist. According to her, “I've always hated eulogies but wow OJB! You were kind, humble and supportive. Producing my first album, you moved into my home for about 2weeks.! We talked about a lot even till recently. May all your loved ones find solace in knowing you are a legend. celebrating the gift of Ojb.”

FG has alerted Nigerians to the existence of a newly-launched mobile application developed by the ISIS for propagating jihad to children. Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who disclosed this in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Segun Adeyemi, in Abuja today Thursday, June 16, said the mobile application, tagged "Huroof" (Arabic alphabets or letters), is to be used by ISIS to teach children the Arabic alphabets with the aid of guns, military tanks and cannons.  "The application utilizes colourful illustrations that attract and engage the attention of young children," He urged parents and guardians to be vigilant and to prevent their children and wards from being indoctrinate. The senate at its plenary today passed into law the Public Procurement Act 20‎07 (amendment) bill 2016, which among other things compels government in all the three tiers, to purchase made-in-Nigeria goods. Speaking after the passage of the bill, senate President, Bukola Saraki, said  "In stimulating our economy, we all have a role to play to ensure that the executive complies especially in the area of giving first priority to locally-produced goods. This has helped many countries to develop when they had issues of downturn in their economy. I want to commend my colleagues for passing this bill‎.”

Breaking News : Fuel Scarcity Set to Nigeria.

Nigerians might experiment fuel scarcity again as the owners of Mega Petrol Filling Stations have threatened to shut down operations following an alleged imposition of a lower pump price on them by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) . This was revealed at a briefing held by the Mega Filling Station Owners of Nigeria (AMFSON) in Kaduna. The association claimed that Ibe Kachikwu, the Group Managing Director (GMD) of NNPC, had directed that all mega filling stations sell fuel at varying rates of N130.00, N135.00, N140.00 per litre, while their competitors sell at N145 per litre. Kenneth Nwachukwu, the association’s national Secretary, said: “We are kicking against a directive by the Minister of State for Petroleum that we sell fuel for less than N145 per litre. We are all marketers and we get supplies at the same source and at the same price. Why should we be made to sell at N130, N135 and N140 per litre while others sell for N145 per litr...

Coach Shaibu Amodu Fidau Prayer to hold On Saturday

The family of departed Nigeria coaching legend Shuaibu Amodu has announced that the eighth day fidau prayer for the former NFF Technical Director will take place at his Lagos home - 41b, Adegoke Street, off Alhaji Masha Street, Surulere, Lagos starting from 10am on Saturday, 18th June.  Amodu, who qualified the Super Eagles for the 2002 and 2010 FIFA World Cups and won two Cup of Nations bronze medals in a four time stint, lidied in his sleep in Benin City in the early hours of Saturday last week and was buried the same day in his home town, Okpella in Edo State.

Hundreds of the Internally Displaced Persons in Bama Camp are at the risk of dying, according to the International Centre For Investigative Reporting. On May 5, 2016, health workers were alerted that some people needed help within the Internally Displaced Persons, IDP, camp in Bama, 70 kilometres from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.  (pictured is a plate of soup meant for seven people!) On getting there, five women were seen lying on the ground, some gasping while others were barely conscious. Three of the women were with children, including a little girl sucking her mother's breast while her brother lay on the ground with his head on the mother's leg. The only means of transportation in the camp are handcarts but by the time some were brought to transport the women to the clinic, two of them had died, one of them being the woman whose daughter was still sucking her breast. The little children were separated from the dead mother and handed over to their grandmother...

Malnorished children from Sambisa forest Evacuated.

On Monday June 13th and yesterday, Wednesday June 15th, the Executive Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, instructed Empower 54 and Borno SEMA to immediately evacuate the  malnourished children rescued from Sambisa Forest by the Nigerian Army in Bama.  Empower 54 has the difficult task of identifying the patients to be moved. Borno SEMA is providing shelter, food and other items for their care while Doctors Without Borders (MSF) are providing medical care. On Monday, over 1,000 extremely malnourished children were evacuated in 15 large school busses to a secure treatment location in Maiduguri provided by the Borno State government.  Yesterday, despite heavy rains, Empower 54 was in the rain for over 3hours selecting children to be evacuated and successfully moved over 500 people. Trucks of food were sent and distributed at the camp by the Governor who also went to see the malnourished children and women rescued from Boko Haram.  We thank the Governor of Bo...
