Members of the PDP National Caretaker Committee today took over the leadership of the party as they replaced the National Working Committee of the party. Former Deputy National Chairman and former Acting National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus on behalf of the National Working Committee, handed over to the caretaker committee members.  The committee members were appointed by the party during their party convention in Rivers state on May 21st. All PDP state governors, Senators and key party members were present at the handing over ceremony which took place at the National Secretariat.

Four persons were injured on Thursday, June 2 on LASU-Igando road when a tomato-laden truck collided with a Private Sector Partnership (PSP) Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) disposal van.  According to a statement issued today by LASEMA a police escort, Michael Adeyeye, was trapped in the truck, but was rescued by Lagos State Emergency Agency and Lagos State Fire Service officials. 

A woman was fortunately rescued from inside a black Pajero jeep last weekend after she panicked and veered off the road and fell into an open drainage along MCC by Boston Hotel in Calabar the Cross Rivers State capital.  According to eyewitnesses who spoke to CrossRiverWatch, the woman was driving towards Mobil by MCC when she veered off the road because she was scared by the barrage of cars driving behind her.  One of the eyewitnesses who spoke under anonymity said that the unidentified woman would have sustained serious injuries if not for the timely intervention of passers-by who came to her rescue immediately the accident happened.  Source: CrossRiverWatch 

Ademola Olajire, an Assistant Director of Communications in the Nigeria Football Federation, said that Keshi  died after he was rushed to an hospital after complaining of his legs. He said that Keshi had problems with his legs and that he could not stand for long. More so Valere Hounandinou, an Assistant Coach to Keshi, confirmed  to Vanguard that ”last week Stephen Keshi complained to him that he was having irregular heart beats and he advised him to go the hospital’.   The Nigeria Football Federation on it twitter handle @thenff  tweeted ‘Former Nigeria Captain and Coach, Stephen Keshi, is dead. President Buhari has handed over power to Vice President Yemi Osinbajoi. Osinbajo will serve in acting capacity for the 10 days President Buhari will be away in the UK for medical checkup.

14 yr old Amina Ibrahim suffered severe burns after she allegedly took antibiotics, Septrin prescribed to her by a chemist. Her condition degenerated into the Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS). She died in the morning of June 2nd. This is So sad.

Four civilians and seven police officers were killed after a bomb targeting a Police bus in Istanbul, Turkey, exploded near the city's historic Beyazit Square neighbourhood, a major tourist attraction, and an Istanbul university building.  Police managed to remotely detonate the remaining bombs as the vehicle passed through the area this morning. According to Istanbul's governor, Vasip Sahin, 36 other people were injured. Police suspect the attack was carried out by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). 

14 year old Amina Ibrahim who suffered severe burns after allegedly taking popular antibiotics, Septin, has died. Amina had gone to a chemist to buy medications when she was feeling ill and when she got there, she met the 19 year old son of the pharmacist who prescribed the antibiotics for her. She took the drug and immediately started reacting to it. Within an hour, she suffered sever burns on her face and neck. She was later diagnosed with Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a “rare, serious disorder of skin and mucous membranes that is usually caused from reaction to a medication or an infection.   Amina died at the Mohammed Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital in Kano State.

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has released a statement commending President Buhari for flagging off the cleanup process of the oil polluted Ogoni land. In the statement made available to Sahara Reporters today June 7th, the militant group said successive governments including that of an indigene of the area, Goodluck Jonathan, failed to carry out the cleanup of the region as recommended in the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).  "It is in the light of this premise, but particularly because of the colossal failure of former President Goodluck Jonathan-an indigene of the region who was at the helm for six (6) years - to address the remediation of our environment, that the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), for and on behalf of the good people of the region, sincerely and warmly commend President Muhammadu Buhari for his political will and sagacity in tackling the vexed issue of the clean-up of Ogoniland with the June 2, ...

One of the Kardashian's Dash boutique was almost firebombed by a 'Molotov cocktail' someone threw at it. A 'Molotov cocktail' also known as a petrol/fire bomb, is a crude incendiary device typically consisting of a bottle filled with flammable liquid.  The attacker used a dumbbell to smash the window of their store in Los Angeles and then made an attempt to light the store on fire. Police were alerted and the person absconded quickly. However, a suspect believed to be responsible for the attack was later taken into custody.
