Just Wondering...

The Warning Signs that Depression is affecting your relationship.

If your relationship is struggling, depression may be the culprit. A resounding body of research has shown how closely depression is related to relationships in a cyclical fashion: depression affects the quality of your relationships, and the features of your relationship can affect your level of depression(1, 2, 3). In other words, being depressed can cause you to pay less attention to your partner, be less involved, be more irritable or have trouble enjoying time together–all of which can cause your relationship to falter. On the other hand, relationship problems such as high conflict, lack of communication, withdrawal, and difficulty resolving problems, can all lead to depression. Psychologist and researchers also point to the key fact that building a strong and loving relationship can fortify you and your partner against the withering affects of depression(4). But in order to know what you’re fighting against, you must be able to identify when and how depression is interfering. And...

What you Think You become.

“We become what we think about all day long.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson I know most of us heard this at least once during their life time, but what does it really mean? What do thoughts have to do with who we are and what we do? What do they have to do with our circumstances and the people that are showing up in our lives? As years went by, I came to realize that what you focus on become your reality. Everyday we have 60000 thoughts and most of them are the same as the day before, most of them are negative. We choose to spend our life worrying about what the future might bring, to complain about our present circumstances and about what’s missing in our lives. We choose to spend a great amount of our time thinking about past situations and to live with regrets, with “what if’s”. If you have no control over a situation, a situation that might never happen, why worry? And if you have control over it why worry? If you have no control over, leave it, and if you have control than there ...

The Wisdom Of Silence: Learning to keep quiet.

“Fear less, hope more; Whine less, breathe more; Talk less, say more; Hate less, love more; And all good things are yours.” ~ Swedish proverb You know who I really appreciate? Those people who aren’t uncomfortable with silence. Those people with whom you can sit at a table and have a delicious meal and not feel uncomfortable when none of you has anything to say. I love people who can communicate with one another not just with words but also with silence. I remember going out for dinner one night with two of my closest friends but also with this other person whom we just recently met. And while we were there, I noticed that this person couldn’t stop talking. I mean, she just couldn’t. She kept going on and on and on and I honestly thought my head was going to explode because of all the noise she was making. I just couldn’t believe that a human being could actually talk so much and breathe so little. I was amazed and irritated at the same time. She was talking so much and so loud ...

African Migrant caught coming Out from a travelling Bag.

An Eritrean migrant was caught hiding inside a suitcase after terrified train passengers heard moans coming from the bag as it entered Switzerland. The man had squeezed himself into the case and was wheeled onto a train in Milan, disguised as his friend's luggage. But the discomfort took its toll after 45 minutes, causing him to wail as the train crossed the Swiss-Italian border. Shocked passengers alerted authorities after hearing strange noises coming from the unattended bag. Guards removed the case from the train at Chiasso and were stunned when a human hand emerged. The authorities were already aware of the migrants and planned to stop the train even before passengers heard the moaning.

Remember Ese Oruru case.

Absence of new defence counsel has stalled the trial of Yunusa Dahiru, the alleged abductor of the 14-year-old-girl, Ese Oruru at the Federal High Court in Yenagoa. At the resumed hearing on Friday, Mr Abdul Mohamed, who appeared for the defence, informed the court that there was a new lead counsel for the defence. Mohamed said that the new lead counsel was absent due to illness, and applied for an adjournment. “My lord, our senior partner from Kano, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who will lead the team is ill and he has asked the court to take cognisance of his health. Following Mohamed’s submission, the judge, Justice Aliya Nganjiwa, adjourned the case till September 13 for continuation of hearing. Nganjiwa ordered that Yunusa would remain in prison custody. Yunusa is standing on a five-count charge of criminal abduction, illicit sex, sexual exploitation and unlawful carnal knowledge of a minor, Ese Oruru.

World Oldest Twins who has no Children or Wives turn 103 .

The World's oldest living male twins, Belgian men Pieter and Paulus Langerock, who have lived together most of their lives, celebrated at their care home on Friday as they turned 103. To this day, the brothers who barely leave each other’s side have never ever married, and share a room at their nursing home just outside the Belgian town of Ghent. The two men who have no children or grandchildren say they are each other's best friends as they celebrated with a glass of wine on Friday. After their long careers as court magistrates in the middle of the 20th century, the elegantly-dressed 103-year-olds prefer speaking French and being addressed as “Pierre and Paul”. They have another two years to go to break the record of US brothers Glen and Dale Moyer, both of whom reached 105 before dying.

Wei went to live with her husband's family when she was orphaned aged six and he was just five and the couple have been together ever since.   Basao remembers her wedding to Wei Qishou when they were teenagers. She said: 'In the evening, we had dinner with all the family elders and we were married.'  Pictures circulating on Chinese media show the happy couple taking a stroll, holding hands and cooking a meal.  Wei said her husband's family treated her well despite their poverty. The family which relied on farming for survival were so poor they slept on bare beds without bedding. Qishou worked as a farmer while Basao made shoes from hand. The couple live a simple life and have never owned a car. They have five sons and a daughter who visit them as much as possible.  Villagers say that they have lived a long and happy life together. ...

Plus Sized Ghanaian bride has this word to Say.

Image
Beautiful plus size Ghanaian bride/a nurse at University of Ghana Hospital, Mzznaki Tetteh, has some words of encouragement for people put down by their weight issues. Sharing some new photos from her wedding, she wrote,  "My inbox is constantly flooded with messages about weight issues and insecurities and how I inspire some of you. I'm beyond honoured to think my life is making some impact. You should never let negative thoughts about your size weigh you down or keep you from living your dream life. If I had listened to nay sayers I would never be a nurse, I would never drive a car, I would probably go around wearing sack cloths with my head covered. I would never have opened a social media account and never posted any pictures online. Never let the petty minded busy bodies determine how you live your life. A life half lived should not be yours my lovely people."
