Remember Ese Oruru case.

Absence of new defence counsel has stalled the trial of Yunusa Dahiru, the alleged abductor of the 14-year-old-girl, Ese Oruru at the Federal High Court in Yenagoa. At the resumed hearing on Friday, Mr Abdul Mohamed, who appeared for the defence, informed the court that there was a new lead counsel for the defence. Mohamed said that the new lead counsel was absent due to illness, and applied for an adjournment. “My lord, our senior partner from Kano, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who will lead the team is ill and he has asked the court to take cognisance of his health. Following Mohamed’s submission, the judge, Justice Aliya Nganjiwa, adjourned the case till September 13 for continuation of hearing. Nganjiwa ordered that Yunusa would remain in prison custody. Yunusa is standing on a five-count charge of criminal abduction, illicit sex, sexual exploitation and unlawful carnal knowledge of a minor, Ese Oruru.
