Today marks the 63rd anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's Coronations. It was a wonderful day of pageantry and celebration (despite the heavy rain), but also a solemn religious ceremony which has remained essentially the same for over a thousand years, a statement from the spokesperson reads. During the ceremony, The Queen promised to:  "govern the Peoples of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Union of South Africa, Pakistan, and Ceylon, and of your Possessions and the other Territories to any of them belonging or pertaining, according to their respective laws and customs...to exercise justice with mercy...and to maintain the Church of England"

A Tennessee father has given a 21-year-old man the beating of his life after he caught him trying to raped his 7-year-old son. According to police, on Monday, Sebastian Alonzo from Hendersonville tried to rape a 7-year-old child, unknown to the rapist, the boy's father was around. When he noticed what the man was trying to do to his son, the father quickly sprung into action and physically beat and then detained Sebastian, until police came. According to police, Sebastian had been staying at the home with the 7-year-old boy and his father before the incident. He was giving the beating of his life with one of his eyes nearly damaged. Alonzo was charged with attempted rape of a child and is currently being held on $250,000 bond.

The Minister of Transport and former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi has said that immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan, clearly turned his deaf ears to the plight of the Ogoni people and the Niger Delta in general. Amaechi, who in his address at the flag-off of the implementation of the UNEP report on Ogoniland acknowledged the presence of his successor, Nyesom Wike, lamented that he did everything within his power as a governor to make Jonathan implement the UNEP report on Ogoniland. He said, “We did everything possible as a sitting government to make the president implement the UNEP report, everything. But the report was not implemented after all.” Amaechi noted that the 1b dollar clean up exercise would create jobs for the people of the region. He, however, thanked the President Buhari -led administration for coming to the aid of the Ogoni people and for fulfilling part of his campaign promises of cleaning up the region.

A 60-year- old Somali student, Ahmed Saney who sat for his final secondary school examination this week wants to be a doctor. His photos while in examination room doing his final paper went viral on social media mainly twitter and facebook with congratulatory messages. Radio Dalsan team then visited Saney in his school in Balcad outskirts of Mogadishu on Tuesday to document the challenges he is facing in his dream to be a doctor. "I dropped out of school in 1965 following economic challenges faced by my family and started tailoring business to sustain them," he told Dalsan team. "I am happy to be in school now to continue my education to fulfill my dreams," He said he want to be a doctor to help people in his village and across the country and needs government support.
