Red cross and been Racist...

The American Red Cross has apologized after a poster depicting pool safety rules was circulated on Twitter and slammed by users for being "super racist."  The poster, which shows a crowd of cartoon children committing an array of poolside do's and dont's, was spotted at the Salida Pool and Recreation Department in Salida, Colorado by a twitter user who uploaded the picture causing a lot of backlash. As you can see, it's only the black kids that are doing things that aren't cool in the pool ... In a statement , the American Red Cross said: "The American Red Cross appreciates and is sensitive to the concerns raised regarding one of the water safety posters we produced. "We deeply apologize for any misunderstanding, as it was absolutely not our intent to offend anyone. "As one of the nation’s oldest and largest humanitarian organizations, we are committed to diversity and inclusion in all that we do, every day. "To this end, we have remov...

A LETTER TO MY PAST..

Image
Did you remember that I mentioned that KATE used to dread sex? Yes, she once had fear of sexual intimacy with her husband ROY. Her husband specifically told me that she doesn’t look forward to intimacy and she has refused to tell him why. He tried to be patient with her but he seems to be tired to cajoling her to make love each time he is in the mood. What was supposed to be pleasure has turned out to be spiced with a lot of pressure. I took time out with KATE; it was all written in her eyes, that there was something she is hiding, a past that has refused to heal. KATE was raped by her maternal uncle when she was six years and that singular incident changed her life forever. For twenty years she struggled with self esteem and dreads any man coming near her. It was a miracle that she agreed to marry ROY who she never allowed to touch her till many days after their wedding. I told KATE  that the journey to having a great relationship with her husband starts with forgiving h...

Can Men and women be friends........

I kinda believe men and women can be “just friends”. Why only kinda? Because, in my opinion, the environment that allows for a satisfying friendship between the opposite sex looks a lot like the environment that creates satisfying romantic relationships. Therefore, I believe that being friends with the opposite sex is only done successfully when boundaries are applied. Boundaries can be natural or contrived. Here’s an example of each. Contrived: if one (or both) friends are married/spoken for then of course they are not free to explore the romantic possibilities and they make behavior decisions that prevent romance from blossoming. The ingredients for a love relationship may exist but they use boundaries to prevent it from going down that path. Done properly, sure they can be friends. It doesn’t mean they wouldn’t seek romance if the barriers to romance were to be lifted. I call this type of friend, a friend-in-waiting. I can often spot them as they love to approach my husband and b...

16 years homeless girl graduate from college with scholarship.

Resilient Washington, DC resident, 16-year-old Destyni Tyree who lives in a homeless shelter with her mum recently overcame extraordinary odds to not only graduate from high school two years ahead of schedule with a 4.0 grade point average, but she also received an academic scholarship to college. Destyni and her family were forced to make the shelter their home after her mother lost her job a few years ago, but the hard-working teenager refused to let her situation affect her. She said she used her unfortunate circumstances as motivation rather than letting it get her down. Destyni said: "I don't want to live in a shelter when I get older". "I want to better my life, so that gave me the drive to do what I want to do," she told NBC 4 Washington. With the outstanding support of her mother and the principal of her school, Destyni worked hard to meet and exceed her goal of graduating two years early. Destyni plans to attend Potomac State University later this ...
